Help Zlata Walk Again Without Pain

Meet Zlata, a beautiful one-year-old dog from Zlatibor. In mid-August, she was hit by a car and started living in constant pain.

We are volunteers with the HOG Association. We invite you to be part of Zlata’s story - by donating toward her treatment, sharing her story, or becoming her future family.

Zlata's Cry for Help

On the streets of Zlatibor, Zlata bravely endured her pain for days. A woman noticed her near a café in a heartbreaking condition: she was standing, nodding her head as if falling asleep, but couldn't lie down. She immediately wrote to several organizations, including us, and that's how we connected.

Posts on social media (Facebook and Instagram) quickly spread, and help arrived.

The Road to Rescue

After our initial contact, the same woman happened to meet Zlata again in the evening. That’s when we all met for the first time - she, our volunteers, and Zlata - to figure out what to do next. In the following days, animal control was unable to locate her to help with the capture. During that time, someone responded to the social media posts: a shelter in Kragujevac offered a place, and it has a trusted veterinarian and an X-ray machine.

Finally, one morning, a volunteer found her by chance far from her usual area. He waited three hours for the animal control team, then personally drove Zlata to Kragujevac. Thanks to him, Zlata was safe and at the vet’s office that same day.

Diagnosis: Surgery is Her Only Hope

The vet confirmed: Zlata needs surgery. It is her only chance to run again and live without pain. The operation will be performed at the Miloš Surdžin Veterinary Clinic.

Although the clinic is fully booked more than 20 days ahead, they have promised to operate on Zlata within one day, once we raise the necessary funds.

Medical Costs:

  • Surgical Operation: 450 €

  • Blood Tests: 40 €

  • Post-operative Collar: 10 €

Total: 500 €
